Independent Start Up and Support Broker for the
New York OPWDD’s Self Direction Program
My personal journey began 18 years ago with my daughter Brittany who was born with Cerebral Palsy, seizures and multiple disabilities. My youngest daughter Jessica just broadened my understanding of disabilities to include Autism. Our journey has taken me down many roads with my girls including President of the SEPTA, a member of a non-profit Board of Directors, fundraiser developer, volunteering for various special needs’ programs and even an advocate for people with special needs. As an advocate, I have testified at congressional hearings, regularly advocate by visiting our elected officials and have even convinced Congressman, both at the state and federal levels, to co-sponsor specific bills to benefit those with special needs (most recently the Able Act 2015).
After going through OPWDD’s Front Door for my daughter, I wanted to help others who may need help interpreting the NYS system and help in developing and implementing a Self Determination Plan that will fulfill their needs and dreams. In May 2015, I became certified as an Independent Start-Up and Support Broker for people with disabilities (OPWDD’s Self Determination Program).
Using my years of expertise as a Medical Marketing Consultant and my personal experience of raising two children in the New York State OPWDD’s system`—I will bring both the experience and personal determination to help you develop a solid circle of support, develop and implement your budget for your present, your future and your dreams.
